KMJ Publishing Process

Kerala Medical Journal follows a four step publishing process.

Submit

Authors initiate the process by uploading their original manuscripts through the secure KMJ online portal. During this stage, the submission is screened by AI to ensure it adheres to the journal’s specific formatting guidelines, ethical standards, and scope. Only manuscripts that pass this initial technical compliance check move forward to the review phase.

Review

The manuscript undergoes a rigorous peer-review process involving subject matter experts. These reviewers critically evaluate the study’s methodology, clinical significance, and scientific validity. They provide detailed feedback to the editors, who then decide whether the paper is accepted without changes, requires specific revisions from the author, or is rejected.

Edit

Once a manuscript is accepted, it enters the production phase. Professional copyeditors refine the text for clarity, grammar, and consistency with KMJ style guides. The layout is then typeset into the journal’s final format. Authors are provided with galley proofs to perform a final check for any minor errors.

Publish

The finalized article is officially released to the medical community. It is assigned a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) and published on the KMJ website and in print. The research becomes indexed and searchable, contributing to the broader scientific discourse and allowing practitioners to access and cite the findings.
