Abstract
Background: Emergence of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a significant threat to human health, manageable through antimicrobial stewardship programs (AMSP).
Objective: Diagnostic stewardship, a crucial component of AMSP, involves the judicious selection, analysis, and timely reporting of diagnostic tests to guide targeted antimicrobial therapy.
Role of Microbiologist: Clinical microbiologists contribute by performing selective and cascade reporting of antibiotics, and by helping differentiate contaminants from true pathogens.
