Abstract

Kerala State which has made impressive improvements in material conditions of living is now facing a huge burden of cardio vascular diseases. The article discusses the burden of cardiovascular diseases and its determinants, current strategies for its control and future directions. The paper calls for an urgent need to reorient the primary health care system to meet the challenges.
