Kikuchi-Fujimoto Disease (KFD)

Abstract

Kikuchi-Fujimoto disease (KFD), or histiocytic necrotizing lymphadenitis, is a benign and self-limited disease that mainly affects young women. Patients present with localized lymphadenopathy, fever, and leucopoenia in up to half of the cases. KFD can occur in association with systemic lupus erythematosus. We present here a case of 16 year old patient who presented with cervical lymphadenopathy. Kikuchi disease Kikuchi-Fujimoto disease was diagnosed after cervical lymph node biopsy. Symptomatic treatment was provided and an uneventful full recovery was made.
