Sepsis due to Roseomonas Gilardii in an Elderly Female

Abstract

Background: An 82-year-old female, with a history of osteoarthritis, presented with a two-day history of urinary retention, constipation, abdominal discomfort, and worsening breathlessness that started a week prior.
Case Presentation: On clinical examination, she was conscious, oriented, febrile, and exhibited pallor and bilateral pedal edema. Her vital signs were stable.
Diagnosis: Blood culture using BacT/ALERT 3D detected positive growth. Gram staining of the blood culture broth revealed gram-negative bacilli, which were subsequently identified as Roseomonas gilardii.
Conclusion: This case report describes a rare instance of sepsis caused by Roseomonas gilardii in an elderly female.
